Bannisters Farm – A Startup Story

When it comes to potatoes, we really know our onions… we’ve been growing potatoes on our farm on the Yorkshire Wolds for over 50 years.

We began baking, then freezing potatoes for foodservice back in the eighties to satisfy the year-round demand for quality baking potatoes. Freezing the potatoes when they’re at their best, ready to be reheated on demand.

Back when we started out, all the potatoes came straight from our fields but as our baked potatoes became more popular, we needed to source from elsewhere too.

While a few still come from our farm, the majority are grown on other farms around the country. We only ever bake British potatoes and, whenever we can, we use potatoes grown on neighbouring farms and across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

As a family farming business, diversifying into food production, we’re acutely aware of how the market can fluctuate depending on the quality of the growing season. Let’s just say we’re keen weather watchers!

A Tasty New Range

As well as being a family business, we’re also a very close-knit team and we take a collaborative approach to NPD.

We’re particularly proud of our new range of vegan potato skins. No longer do vegans have to miss out on indulgent sharing platters and hot snacks or more-ish and tempting buffet options. With our vegan skins we combine punchy flavours with globally inspired ingredients, topped with a wonderfully oozy mozzarella-style melt. Also, like the rest of our range, they’re gluten free!

A Blank Canvas For Creations

Although food trends come and go, the humble spud really does endure. Our signature Ready Baked Jacket Potato is allergen free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans, making it a blank canvas for any number of dishes.

Everyone has their favourite baked potato topping but we’re always looking to inspire our customers with recipes and serving suggestions on our website and social media channels.

Here are a few of our favourites…
